The Signature Pedagogies of the Professions of Law, Medicine, Engineering, and the Clergy: Potential Lessons for the Education of Teachers
Abstract
In this highly insightful talk, Dr. Lee Shulman discusses the wisdom gained from studying practices in preparing professionals in other fields such as medicine and law. He then lays out a compelling argument for the development of a "signature pedagogy" for preparing teachers. In order for a signature pedagogy to be effective, Shulman explains, it must be distinctive in the profession, pervasive within the curriculum, and found across institutions of teacher education.
